An analysis of employability competencies in the integrated curriculum of STEAM

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate employability competencies in the integrated STEAM curriculum. The qualitative research approach, the method used is synthesis research, and the tool used is checklist and the data analysis method is open, axial and selective coding. The research community was relevant scientific documents in the last ten years. Finally, 35 sources were directly used. The findings show that the STEAM curriculum, due to its constructivist nature and the ability to strengthen entrepreneurial and interactive skills, leads to the acquisition of employability competencies in learners. In this regard, three main themes of personal competencies, professional competencies, and social competencies related to employability have been extracted as outputs. The sub-codes of personal competencies include personality traits, soft skills, behavioral skills, and problem-solving skills. In professional competencies, themes such as professional ethics, professional identity, and technical and technological skills have also been extracted. Social competencies also include topics such as communication and negotiation skills.
