Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the role of teachers as role models in the education system based on global perspectives; in such a way that by examining the characteristics and dimensions of this role within the framework of international criteria and standards, a clear and practical understanding of the position and impact of teachers as educational and training role models can be achieved. The present study is practical in terms of its purpose and has been conducted with a qualitative approach in terms of data collection. This review study was conducted using systematic literature review methods. The research field includes first-hand Latin documents (books, scientific-research journals, theses, research projects) in the period 2014 to 2024 through a comprehensive search in scientific databases and with the benefit of purposeful sampling until saturation is reached, in order to address the role of the teacher as a role model and its characteristics. After analyzing the documents using a three-stage coding method, the components of teacher role models were categorized into 19 core categories. Finally, these themes were grouped under three overarching themes: personality and behavioral characteristics, educational and professional skills, and managerial and innovative roles. The results obtained show that teachers are among the most important pillars of a country's development. With their personality and behavioral characteristics, they guide students in various aspects of personality and behavior. Also, teachers' educational and professional skills and their managerial and innovative roles have a direct impact on the quality of education. Ultimately, it is the role of teachers as role models that drives society towards progress and advancement.
