Abstract
The present study was conducted with the aim of identifying the components of a competency-based curriculum to foster employability in higher education. The approach was qualitative research and the method was a systematic review. Using the keywords competency-based curriculum, employability, 84 sources were studied in the databases of Science Direct, Scopus, Eric, Google Scholar, and the Iranian Scientific Information and Documents Database. The research tool was a checklist. Categorical analysis was used to analyze the data. Based on the review of the sources, 13 themes (3 comprehensive themes and 10 organizing themes) were identified and extracted for the competency-based curriculum. To determine the validity, the extracted themes were provided to 15 competency-based curriculum experts and their validity was calculated as 74/. It is expected that by considering the cognitive, emotional, and psychomotor dimensions of the competency-based curriculum for employability and their sub-themes in the intended and implemented curriculum, it will be possible to provide the basis for the realization of employability competencies in students.
